Lower mileage transmissions with minor problems can cost less depending on the condition of the components. My basic rebuild service may be all that is necessary for a working transmission with 150,000 miles or less that is just beginning to have problems. The transmission fluid may be supplied in gallon or quart containers.

My basic rebuild service consists of the transmission being disassembled, cleaned, inspected, and reassembled with all new gaskets, bushings, seals, clutch steel and friction discs, fluid filters, the band, a remanufactured torque converter, and 12-quarts of synthetic transmission fluid. 4L60E TRANSMISSION REMOVAL FULL
We recommend using our full synthetic ATF or any popular brand full synthetic ATF.Ī.If you are able to remove and reinstall your 4L60E transmission but do not want to take on the job of rebuilding it, you have come to the right place. You will have to top the transmission off with fluid before operating. The torque converter is already primed with fluid and does not need to be removed. Your transmission will arrive with approximately 1-3 quarts of full synthetic ATF in it from testing. Does the transmission come with fluid? What ATF fluid will I need?Ī. For example, the neutral safety switch, speed sensor, tailhousing etc. Depending on your transmission type some external components may need to be transferred over from your original transmission. For residential deliveries, the carrier must transfer your transmission onto a smaller truck for delivery. Items that are marginally still good go back into a rebuilt transmission the way they came out.

A standard rebuild consists of only replacing items that are completely worn out. For example, whether your rebuilt 4L60E transmission will have all of the OE manufacturer updates and upgrades to increase its strength and longevity will vary from shop to shop. The term rebuilt can have different meanings from shop to shop. This can quickly balloon into a lot of wasted time and money. However, locating the exact match to your vehicle can be difficult and sourcing a properly functioning used 4L60E Transmission may take several installation & removal attempts before getting a good one. Used 4L60E transmissions are no doubt an enticing option because of they’re affordability.
